Wednesday April 16, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-All friendships need guard rails-
2-When you have not decided, you have decided-
3-In raising children, what is rewarded is repeated-
4-You need to have a relationship focused marriage, not a kid focused family-
5-You have no idea of what hangs in the balance with choices you make-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

I'VE LEARNED-The greatest joy in life comes most often from blessing others, not by seeking to be blessed ourselves-

DID YOU KNOW-No one has been able to explain satisfactorily why couples who marry in January, February, and March tend to have the highest divorce rate-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-The book of Joshua said the sun stood still for about a day.  We know today that the earth revolves around the sun so what happened in the solar system that the sun appeared to stand still?
2-Why were the tribes of Judah, Ephraim and a half tribe of Manasseh given preferential portions of the land of Canaan?
3-Why didn't the Israelites drive out all the people of Canaan as God had instructed them to do?
4-Is the reason that Israel today doesn't possess all the land God had promised to them because their forefathers failed to drive out of Canaan the people God had told them to?
5-Why is there often a vacuum of any real dedication to God in the passing of the older generation to the younger?

BIBLE TRIVA-How many angels rescued Lot and his family from the doomed city of Sodom?
Answer for today   Two   Genesis 19:1-22

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY  Ephesians 4:29-32
29 When you talk, do not say harmful things, but say what people need—words that will help others become stronger. Then what you say will do good to those who listen to you.30 And do not make the Holy Spirit sad. The Spirit is God’s proof that you belong to him. God gave you the Spirit to show that God will make you free when the final day comes. 31 Do not be bitter or angry or mad. Never shout angrily or say things to hurt others. Never do anything evil. 32 Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Thankful man
Father, if we guard Your teachings in Scripture as the apple of our eye we will love and cherish them. We will read, honor and obey them, aligning all other input with Your Word. It must meet the sniff test by measuring up to unchanging Biblical principles or be rejected on that basis. You change the hearts and souls of men and women, boys and girls, and yet You are the changeless, everlasting Father whom we worship now and for all eternity. May we continue in what have learned and become convinced of because it increases our faith and anchors our spirit in this world where instability, fear, and distrust are the order of the day. Keep us true and growing in our faith, we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
