Saturday November 8, 2014 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
1-Obedience to laws without a sense of mercy is empty of spiritual value-
2-"God desires mercy more than sacrifice"-
3-The Pharisees believed in strict adherence to the ritual laws of purity and received some of Jesus' harshest criticism-
4-What is hateful to you do not do to your neighbor-
5-Jesus was condemned and executed as a nationalistic freedom fighter who threatened Rome, not for claiming to be the messiah-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Of course I can keep secrets.  It is the people I tell them to that cannot keep them-

I'VE LEARNED-By forgiving those who have hurt us, we are then able to forgive ourselves for having hurt others-

DID YOU KNOW-Henry Ford believed in reincarnation and flatly stated that history was bunk-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What did Jesus mean saying to the pharisees, "Woe to you for you are like unmarked graves which men walk over without knowing it"?
2-What did the pharisees and the teachers of the law hate most about Jesus?
3-Why is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit worse than blasphemy against Jesus?
4-Will obeying Jesus' command to "sell your possessions and give to the poor" grant you forgiveness of sins?
5-Jesus told the disciples "I have a baptism to under go and how distressed I am until it is completed."  Explain-

BIBLE TRIVIA-What did the bones of Elisha do to a dead men?
Answer for today    brought him back to life   2 Kings 13:20-21

SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY      Micah 6:8
The Lord has told you, human, what is good;
He has told you what he wants from you:
To do what is right to other people,
    Love being kind to others,
And live humbly, obeying your God.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Praying man Father, we solemnly consider the catastrophic impact that terrorists have permanently etched in our painful memories from events of 9/11/01. Though we witnessed mayhem and saw evil at its worst, mercifully, we also witnessed acts of goodness at their best.  We are not without hope, for we know that You are a God of hope that fills believers with all joy and peace as they trust in You, so that they may overflow with hope by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to spread the overflowing, enduring hope that does not diminish in the midst of evil, but instead it focuses our hearts on the holy city, the New Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem where Your presence is with Your people. Where You will wipe away every tear from our eyes and there will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain, because all the old ways are gone, for You will make all things new. Come, Lord Jesus, come.  Amen.

TODAY WILL NEVER COME AGAIN. BE A BLESSING. BE A FRIEND. ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. TAKE TIME TO CARE. LET YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS HEAL AND NOT WOUND!
