Friday November 2, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-We need to remember that service is worship and that worship is service-
2-There is evangelism in feeding the poor and there is worship in tending the sick-
3-You don't have to be busy to be holy-
4-Friday's tragedy can be Sunday's triumph-
5-To Jesus, a tool of death was a symbol of love-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear-

I'VE LEARNED-When you can't reach someone who is close to your heart, you can always hug them with your prayers-

DID YOU KNOW-A full moon is nine times brighter than a half moon-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What does it mean, "You are always listening but never understanding, always looking but never seeing"?
2-Was Jesus the only person who had come claiming to be the messiah?
3-Can we find fault with the Jewish people for not knowing and accepting who Jesus was?
4-Who must accept the blame for the Jewish people to remain in darkness about Jesus being the messiah?
5-Did Jesus use the term "Son of man" and "Son of God" interchangeably?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Whose wife was threatened with having her family's house burned down unless she would find the answer to Samson's riddle?
yesterday's answer-Rome    Luke 2:1-7

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   John 5:1-6
1 Later Jesus went to Jerusalem for a special feast. 2 In Jerusalem there is a pool with five covered porches, which is called Bethesda[a] in the Hebrew language.[b] This pool is near the Sheep Gate. 3 Many sick people were lying on the porches beside the pool. Some were blind, some were crippled, and some were paralyzed [, and they waited for the water to move. 4 Sometimes an angel of the Lord came down to the pool and stirred up the water. After the angel did this, the first person to go into the pool was healed from any sickness he had].[c] 5 A man was lying there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw the man and knew that he had been sick for such a long time, Jesus asked him, "Do you want to be well?"
Footnotes:
  1. John 5:2 Bethesda Some Greek copies read "Bethzatha" or "Bethsaida," different names for the pool of Bethesda.
  2. John 5:2 Hebrew language Or Aramaic, the languages of many people in this region in the first century.
  3. John 5:4 and . . . Had Some Greek copies do not contain all or most of the bracketed text.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather, we thank You for the spiritual leaders You have placed in our lives. We thank You for those who express personal concern when they see that we’re troubled and offer Bible-based counsel and encouragement. We thank You for those who contend earnestly for the faith, teaching us simple and profound truths of the Bible. We thank You for those who kneel before You and lift us up in prayer. You’ve given them a burden to care for our soul, to love us unconditionally. We hold them in the highest regard as they carefully deliver Scriptural truths that will keep us from being shaken as the slide to decadence increases. Keep them safe from the evil one so that they remain a solid example to those whom they shepherd. We pray this in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

SMILE, LAUGH, FORGIVE, BELIEVE AND LOVE, OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
