Monday November 12, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Love God in front of people, love people in front of God-
2-Who we really are is seen in our actions and our actions come from what resides in our heart-
3-Christians go to the future , not with a question mark, but with an explanation mark-
4-God's goodness provides and protects, God's mercy pardons and forgives-
5-Grace is the fact that God gives us good things in life that we don't deserve, mercy means God holds back the condemnation we do deserve-

STRANGE THOUGHT-The man who fell onto an upholstery machine has been fully recovered-

I'VE LEARNED-Respect the old when you are young, help the weak when you are strong, confess the fault when you are wrong, for one day in life you will be old, weak and wrong-

DID YOU KNOW-Galileo became totally blind just before his death.  This is probably because of his constant gazing at the sun through his telescope-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What kind of power was it that had left him when he was touched with a touch of faith?
2-Jesus told so many people he healed to tell no one, but how could they possibly do so when they had received a miracle from him?
3-Did everyone who Jesus healed become a follower of him?
4-Jesus gave his disciples his power to do miraculous things.  Was this power passed on to our generation today?
5-Did anyone who Jesus prayed healing for not get healed as is so common today?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What rebel sent his spies throughout Israel, telling them to wait till they heard the sound of the trumpet?
Yesterday's answer-Galatians  2:4

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    John 6:10-15
10 Jesus said, “Tell the people to sit down.” There was plenty of grass there, and about five thousand men sat down there. 11 Then Jesus took the loaves of bread, thanked God for them, and gave them to the people who were sitting there. He did the same with the fish, giving as much as the people wanted.
12 When they had all had enough to eat, Jesus said to his followers, “Gather the leftover pieces of fish and bread so that nothing is wasted.” 13 So they gathered up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with the pieces left from the five barley loaves.
14 When the people saw this miracle that Jesus did, they said, “He must truly be the Prophet[a] who is coming into the world.”
15 Jesus knew that the people planned to come and take him by force and make him their king, so he left and went into the hills alone.
Footnotes:
  1. John 6:14 Prophet They probably meant the prophet that God told Moses he would send (Deuteronomy 18:15–19).
PRAYER FOR TODAY

Praying man
Father, we read of those in the Bible from generations long ago who lived upright and godly lives. They were discerning and wise, devoted in their duties such as Anna and Simeon who served in the temple. So many serve as examples of those who walked in Your ways from their youth and remained faithful through their golden years.  Some of their choices brought about multiple blessings and other choices brought forth great sacrifice, persecution, or even death. We also read of those who were proud and foolish, thinking only of themselves, such as Samson, Ananias and Sapphira or Demetrius the Silversmith. They also serve as warnings to us. We highly esteem those older than us, many whose self-worth is based on productivity and accomplishment, which makes them feel no longer useful in their senior years. Yet their example of wisdom, maturity, and perseverance, especially as they experience the pains and limitations that come with aging, serve as a tremendous example for those of us who will soon follow in their steps. It’s in the name of Jesus that we pray for our senior friends. Amen.

GREATLY BLESSED, HIGHLY FAVORED, IMPERFECT BUT FORGIVEN CHILD OF GOD-
