Tuesday March 26, 2013 thought for the day

HEAR ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Great thoughts reduced to practice become great acts-
2-Better to die in peace than to live in anger-
3-Doing something for others can sometimes be a thankless endeavor-
4-A relationship with Jesus is the oasis in the desert of human relations-
5-Contentment is the secret of inward peace-

STRANGE THOUGHT-I just got lost in thought, it wasn't a familiar territory-

I'VE LEARNED-Some of the things you've been putting off for so long, you can't do them yesterday and may not have the chance to do them tomorrow.  So do them today-

DID YOU KNOW-A jiffy is an actual unit of time: one-hundredth of a second.  Thus the saying, "I will be there in a jiffy!"

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-How do celestial beings worship God?
2-How could the Jesus of Revelations written about by John look like "a lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered"?
3-Are any of the disasters where the seals that had wrapped a scroll and opened by the lamb occurring today in our time?
4-Why was Revelations written in such extreme symbolism and code words?
5-What is the main meaning of the book of Revelations?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What prophet had a vision of an idol near the altar of God?
Yesterday's answer-Isaiah  6:6

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY    JOHN 19:31-37
31 This day was Preparation Day, and the next day was a special Sabbath day. Since the religious leaders did not want the bodies to stay on the cross on the Sabbath day, they asked Pilate to order that the legs of the men be broken[a] and the bodies be taken away. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man on the cross beside Jesus. Then they broke the legs of the man on the other cross beside Jesus. 33 But when the soldiers came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 But one of the soldiers stuck his spear into Jesus’ side, and at once blood and water came out. 35 (The one who saw this happen is the one who told us this, and whatever he says is true. And he knows that he tells the truth, and he tells it so that you might believe.) 36 These things happened to make the Scripture come true: “Not one of his bones will be broken.”[b] 37 And another Scripture says, “They will look at the one they stabbed.”[c]

Footnotes:

  1. 19:31 broken The breaking of their bones would make them die sooner.
  2. 19:36 “Not one . . . Broken.” Quotation from Psalm 34:20. The idea is from Exodus 12:46; Numbers 9:12.
  3. 19:37 “They . . . Stabbed.” Quotation from Zechariah 12:10.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying man Father, thank You for speaking to us through Your Word, other believers, and through serious events in our lives. You beamed Your searchlight from the portals of heaven to show us how lost we were. We’re tremendously blessed to know that celestial beings held a celebration in heaven when we  chose to be Your followers. Though misplacing material things leads to time lost and great frustration, misplacing our faith leads to error and eternal damnation. Father, You’ve shown us the way and instructed us, “This is the way; walk in it.” Help us to seek out others who’ve yet to find the way so that they too will follow You and cause rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING-
