Sunday September 9, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves while wise people are so full of doubts-
2-A kind word picks up a person when trouble weighs them down-
3-God's crumbs are better than the world's loaves-
4-You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich-
5-You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong-

STRANGE THOUGHT-I wear glasses, so does that mean that everything I see is an optical illusion?

I'VE LEARNED-It is the small daily happenings that make life so spectacular-

STRANGE THOUGHT-Kite flying is a professional sport in Thailand-

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Did Eli the priest have other children living with him besides Samuel?
2-When Jesus died, the Bible says there was a great earthquake and many people came out of their graves.
Who were these people and where did this happen?
3-If there were those who came out of their graves at the time of Jesus death, why don't we know what happened
to them and what effect it had on the living?
4-Is there a difference in "raising from the dead" and "resurrection"?
5-What parts of the Bible are literal and what are allegorical?

BIBLE TRIVIA-What smooth skinned man disguised himself so well that he passed himself off as his hairy brother?
Yesterday's answer-Jeroboam    1 Kings 14:1-6

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   Matthew 27:27-31
27 The governor's soldiers took Jesus into the governor's palace, and they all gathered around him.28 They took off his clothes and put a red robe on him.29 Using thorny branches, they made a crown, put it on his head, and put a stick in his right hand. Then the soldiers bowed before Jesus and made fun of him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"30 They spat on Jesus. Then they took his stick and began to beat him on the head.31 After they finished, the soldiers took off the robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manJesus, You are the Solid Rock that keeps us anchored in this vast landscape of shifting sands. Our unfading hope is secured in Your finished work on the cross and our guide map is the inspired Holy Scriptures that make us wise unto salvation. Help us to resist the temptation to look further or to add to Your clearly prescribed plan for living a life that pleases You. We offer to You our lives as living sacrifices. May they be holy and pleasing to You. Amen.
