Tuesday September 25, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-There is no greater gift at Christmas than to have everything you want before you open your presents-
2-It is impossible to make another person feel good without doing the same to ourselves-
3-Discontentment wrapped in the proper perspective is one thing God uses to move us in a new healthy direction-
4-Discontentment is unhealthy when your desire to acquire becomes the focus of your life-
5-If wealth, good looks and things brought contentment, Hollywood would be filled with some of the most contented and happy people around-

STRANGE THOUGHT-In the winter, why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in the summer when we complained about the heat?

I'VE LEARNED-Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all happiness and growth occurs while you are climbing it-

DID YOU KNOW-Leonardo DA Vinci invented the concept of the parachute, but his design was fatally flawed in that it did not allow air to pass through the top of the chute.

5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-What is God up to in your life?
2-What does it mean to be "Christ like"?
3-What is involved in being a disciple?
4-Was Jesus a true rabbi?
5-Is it okay to ask God questions?

BIBLE TRIVIA-Who ordered his daughter in law Tamar burned because she had acted like a prostitute?
Yesterday's answer-Jericho   Joshua 2:1-6

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY   John 1:16-18
16 Because he was full of grace and truth, from him we all received one gift after another.17 The law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. But God the only Son is very close to the Father,[a] and he has shown us what God is like.
Footnotes:
  1. John 1:18 But . . . Father This could be translated, "But the only God is very close to the Father." Also, some Greek copies read "But the only Son is very close to the Father."
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying manFather Your truths do not fluctuate nor are they subject to reinterpretation by the “expert” philosophers of our day. Your truths are explained through the inspiration of Your Holy Word and understanding given to us by Your Holy Spirit.  May our ears be open and our eyes focused to see that Your truth is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING-
