Monday March 5, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-Isn't it comforting to know that God can never be taken by surprise-
2-Don't let the abundance of God's gifts cause you to forget the giver-
3-On the road of life, when you meet temptation, always keep to the right-
4-As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man-Proverbs 27:19
5-To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice-Proverbs 21:3
STRANGE THOUGHT-Love weighs more than gold-
I'VE LEARNED-If you don't ask, the answer will always be "no"-
DID YOU KNOW-If a family had two or fewer servants in the United States in 1900, census takers recorded
The family as lower middle class-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-On what basis was the book "The Shepherd of Hermas" finally not accepted as canonical scripture?
2-The books Hebrews, James, Jude and others were not accepted as canonical scripture for some
Considerable time later as others were. Why?
3-Was there a great deal of mystery about the early Christian beliefs and practices to the non Christian world?
4-How do our current Christian doctrines and beliefs compare to those of the early church?
5-Why did the Law of Moses prescribe stoning to death of blasphemers?
BIBLE TRIVIA-Who was the first woman to see Jesus' empty tomb?
Yesterday's answer-The Samaritan woman John 4:27
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY Galatians 4:24-27
24 This story teaches something else: The two women are like the two agreements between God and his people. One agreement is the law that God made on Mount Sinai, and the people who are under this agreement are like slaves. The mother named Hagar is like that agreement. 25 She is like Mount Sinai in Arabia and is a picture of the earthly city of Jerusalem. This city and its people are slaves to the law. 26 But the heavenly Jerusalem, which is above, is like the free woman. She is our mother. 27 It is written in the Scriptures:
"Be happy, Jerusalem.
You are like a woman who never gave birth to children.
Start singing and shout for joy.
You never felt the pain of giving birth,
But you will have more children
Than the woman who has a husband." — Isaiah 54:1
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, we desire to have You lead us in the paths of righteousness in the way everlasting. Sometimes the next step we take is clearly visible and other times it is a step of faith as darkness seems to veil Your leading. As we earnestly pray we can trust You who stilled the tempest and turned darkness into light. We pray for discernment and a willing spirit to follow Your leading in all matters. Amen.

GREATLY BLESSED, HIGHLY FAVORED, IMPERFECT BUT FORGIVEN CHILD OF GOD!!!
