Tuesday March 20, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not but rejoices for those which he has-
2-"Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth"-
3-"Teach me your way, oh Lord, lead me in a straight path"-
4-The blessedness of life depends more on it's interests than upon it's comforts-
5-"The fruit of the Spirit of God is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control"-
STRANGE THOUGHT-Haters don't really hate you. In fact, they hate themselves because you are a reflection of what they wish to be-
I'VE LEARNED-When your memories outweigh your dreams, you are old-
DID YOU KNOW-Spain declared war on the United States in 1898-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Could it be that the 2 crosses on Calvary with Jesus symbolize God's gift of choice to us?
2-Where and what is Paradise?
3-How long after Jesus' crucifixion was he in Paradise before his resurrection?
4-The Apostles creed states that after Jesus' crucifixion he descended into Hell. Was it before or after going to Paradise?
5-Why didn't Jesus try to change the mind of the unrepentant thief crucified with him?
BIBLE TRIVIA-What distraught woman failed at first to recognize the resurrected Jesus?
Yesterday's answer-Bathsheba, wife of Uriah 2 Samuel 11:3
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY Matthew 4:17-22
Jesus Chooses Some Followers
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Change your hearts and lives, because the kingdom of heaven is near."

18 As Jesus was walking by Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and his brother Andrew. They were throwing a net into the lake because they were fishermen. 19 Jesus said, "Come follow me, and I will make you fish for people." 20 So Simon and Andrew immediately left their nets and followed him.

21 As Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee, he saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. Jesus told them to come with him.22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and they followed Jesus.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Praying manFather, we read throughout the period of the Judges that the people of Israel endured great heartache and spiritual defeat because each one became his own authority and acted on his own opinions of what was right and wrong. They did not look to You as the final authority; they disregarded Your holy laws and chose to do that which was right in their own eyes. We see this prevailing attitude in our own day. But as believers we acknowledge that our judgment is flawed and our motives are selfish when we do not submit our will to a holy God who knows what is best for His children. We want to obey Your laws and surrender our will as we seek to do what is good and right in Your eyes. This will result in our hearts being strengthened and our lives being blessed as we walk in the ways of Christ in whose name we pray. Amen.

I WISH YOU A DAY FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, FORGIVENESS AND THANKSGIVING-
