Wednesday March 28, 2012 thought for the day

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY
1-A search for wisdom without God ends in deception-
2-Great is God's faithfulness-
3-We would be more grateful if we knew how much of what we take for granted is planned by God-
4-Old age needs so little but it needs that little so much-
5-The greatness of God teaches us fear but the goodness of God teaches us love-
STRANGE THOUGHT-A nation of sheep begets a government of wolves-
I'VE LEARNED-Do more than you can for the people that can't-
DID YOU KNOW-Euripides (whoever this was) was the first person on record to denounce slavery-
5 THINGS I WANT TO KNOW
1-Whatever happened to Joseph of Arimathea after Jesus' resurrection?
2-When did Christianity first start in Europe?
3-Why did Judas identify Jesus with a kiss?
4-Why is there no Christmas story in the book of Mark?
5-Did Satan want Peter to become the betrayer instead of Judas?
BIBLE TRIVIA-Who acknowledged the innocence of Jesus but allowed him to be crucified anyway?
Yesterday's answer-Cain, who murdered his brother Genesis 4:8
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY Matthew 5:38-42
Don't Fight Back
38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' 39 But I tell you, don't stand up against an evil person. If someone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other cheek also.40 If someone wants to sue you in court and take your shirt, let him have your coat also.41 If someone forces you to go with him one mile, go with him two miles. 42 If a person asks you for something, give it to him. Don't refuse to give to someone who wants to borrow from you.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Praying man Father, as we experience amazing grace through Your forgiveness of our sins it compels us to show compassion to others who have not yet applied Your grace to their lives. As Jude writes, we are to “Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.” In reaching out to others who are still living in sin help us to be discerning, wise, and cautious, always loving the sinner but never embracing the sin. May our redeemed lives be living examples of the freedom we enjoy in this life after we forsake worthless idols in exchange for the grace that is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord, in whose Name we pray. Amen.

LIVE SIMPLY! LOVE GENEROUSLY! CARE DEEPLY! SPEAK KINDLY! LEAVE THE REST WITH GOD!!
